Elena Ruskovaara Director of Entrepreneurship Education at Lappeenranta University of Technology

Ms. Ruskovaara acquired expertise in entrepreneurship and enterprise education through studies and practical work. The title for her Doctoral Thesis was “Entrepreneurship Education in Basic and Secondary Education – Measurement and Empirical Evidence”. She has also been working as an instructor in continuing education for teachers in the field of entrepreneurship and enterprise education. Nowadays, she is also a lecturer on LUT School of Business and Management.

Since 2008, she has been an active researcher on entrepreneurship education and enterprise education, and her research and development funding applied total of approx. 3.5 million Euros. The most recent and significant funders and partners have been European Commission, European Social Fund, Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, Finnish National Board of Education, Yksityisyrittäjäin Säätiö, OECD, University of Warwick and JA Europe. She worked as a project manager in developing measurement tools for entrepreneurship education. The Finnish measurement system is now used in over 20 countries. She also worked on developing virtual platforms for teachers and teacher trainers. The aforementioned tools and platforms have been named as best practice by Nordic Council of Ministers, by Nordic Innovation (2013) and by European Commission (2013).

She was invited as an Expert Group member by the European Commission in Entrepreneurship Education, Entrepreneurial Universities as well as Evaluation of Entrepreneurship Education, and an Expert Advisory Group member in “Entrepreneurship360” by OECD.
